Mission
The Network Operations Center's Mission is to
provide network management services and maximum security for the
SSMC campus backbone network. Under a state-of-the-art network
management environment, the NOC is able to:

Provide
side-band management of the campus backbone router and monitors
the devices directly connected to these routers.

Resolves
network-related issues through fault management and provides a
single point of contact by phone or email, and help desk/trouble
ticketing system to manage call placement and problem
resolution.

Interoperates
with SSMC LAN administrators, and the WAN Group.

Recovers
from disasters, prevents unauthorized access and alerts LAN
administrators of security-related issues though security
management.

Manage
network assets, cable utilization, Domain Name Services and IP
address use through configuration management.

Produces
and manage real-time performance statistics to address
performance-related issues, and makes recommendations for
performance improvements.
